At Cod-Wear, our brand is proudly inspired by and dedicated to the memory of Robert “Gunner” Caldwell, known simply as “Gunner” to most and affectionately called “Mr. Codwell” by those closest to him. Gunner was the closest thing I ever had to a grandfather, and the values behind Cod-Wear come directly from the life he lived.

A war veteran who earned the nickname “Gunner” during his service, he was a hardworking carpenter, a skilled craftsman, and a man who never shied away from an honest day’s work. He was kind, funny, rough around the edges, and always had a memorable one-liner for just about any situation. Whether he was fishing, hunting, enjoying a cold beer, chewing snuff, or serving as camp cook during my teenage years, Gunner brought people together and left lasting memories wherever he went. Though he passed away many years ago, his work ethic, character, and spirit continue to live on through Cod-Wear and the hardworking people who wear it.
